already announced their entries

port in before the convention

The proclamation signed b>

segments of Pennsylvania’s econ
omy, particularly agriculture,
have progressed thiough cooper
ative endeavors in processing,
marketing and distribution of
products ”
In the Commonwealth of Pen
nsylvania alone there are nearly
1,625 local cooperatives, of which
1,450 are credit unions and the
remainder aie primarily farmer
cooperatives
Nationally, a third of the fam
ilies in this country have a big
stake in ruial and urban coopeia
tives whose assets run into bil
lions of dollars In total, about
50,000 cooperatives have mem
berships of almost 53 million —•
with some duplication of mem
beiship as an individual often ii
a member of moie than one co
opeiative Net savings to con
sumeis through cooperative ser
vices amounts to about $5OO mil
lion annually _
