Turner Reports
Milk Sales Up
‘‘July milk sales are recorded
as a milestone in the history of
milk promotion in Federal Order
#2, said Robert S. Turner,
Horseheads, President of Ameri
can Dairy Association and Dairy
Council of New York. Inc
In quoting the Market Admin
istrator’s repoit, he said. “Sales
ot fluid milk products (Class I)
increased 10,331,722 pounds or
2 4% over July, 1968. This is the
first month where a comparison
could be made on milk sales that
have been recorded using the
same accounting proceduie this
year as last
“For the past year we have
quoted sales increases as com
pared to the same month the
preceding year, but because of
the new method used in report
ing sales, it was hard to deter
mine what was actually an in
crease fiom the sale of milk or
what was an increase from the
accounting procedure

SECOND SECTION
“There can be no doubt even
in the minds of the most sceptic
that milk piomotion is having a
favorable effect in making con
sumers aware of not only the
value of milk and dairy products,
but of the nutritional advantages
that can be found in onl> real,
honest-to-goodness milk
“I feel a trend has been esta
blished, and that we can look for
ward to continuing increases din
ing the remainder of 1969 and
the year ahead With further m
cieased suoport by dairymen in
fluid milk promotion programs,
we know that even greater gains
can be made ”
