Peach Growers

Funds Request
HARRISBURG Pennsyl
vania peach growers voted Tues
day against a self-assessment
plan to raise funds for adver
tising and promoting peaches.
The plan was defeated even
though the “yes" votes (67)
were greater than the “no”
votes (51). State law requires
that 66% of those voting favor
the assessment “Yes” votes to
taled 56 8 percent of those cast
ing ballots.
The proposed assessment was
three cents a hundredweight for
fresh market peaches.
Voting was done through bal
lots which had been mailed to
growers. The ballots were re
turned to the State Agriculture
Building where they were
counted by Paul McPherson,
New Park; George Unger, New
Berlinville; John F. Peters,
Gardners; and Earl Strite, Har
risburg. The men, peach grow
ers, were selected by State Agri-

Monitor-Control
COMBINES
Just one of the features you're sure to like on
these new Monitor-Control combines is revolu
tionary Even-Flow cleaning.
What is Even-Flow cleaning? First of all it involves
the use of two rotary-disc fans, mounted in an air
intake housing, approximately 6-feet off the
ground, on the right hand side of the machine.
Clean air is drawn in from both sides of the housing
and forced down a chute into a plenum chamber
below the sieves. Here, by means of scientific
baffling, the air is diffused and directed up and
through the entire sieve area to provide an out
standing, trouble-free job of cleaning.
With Even-Flow, you can forget about wind
boards and shutters—about fan bottom shields
and screens—about trashy crops, side-winds, and
everything else that causes time-wasting aggrava
tions. All you do is dial a speed to suit the crop—
and forget about it.
