The week of May 19-24 has
been designated Mailbox Im
provement Week, according to
the United States Post Office
Department “We observe this
week to call special attention to
the need for pioviding mail re
ceptacles which aie designed to
piotect the mail fiom the wea
ther, and which aie neat in ap
pearance, conveniently located,
and safe to use,” the department
said. “Neat attractive mailboxes
make a significant conti ibution
to the appearance of the coun
tryside and the stieets in subur
ban areas ”
