Citizens Oppose Open Pit Mining Project One hundred and twenty live Jandowncis and township olfi cials met to discuss the air pol Jution and water conseivation effects of open pit limestone mining in northern Lancastei County at a meeting sponsoied by the Lititz Spoilsman’s Asso ciation last Monday night. Circulated during the meet ing was a petition seeking the bait of the mining project and when sufficient names are se cured on it, it will be submitted to the Callahan Mining Com pany The land to be mined is north of Lititz in Elizabeth and West Cocalico Twps, where nearly 2,500 acres of farmland is al ready under option to the Calla han Mining Co.
