Roll Call was answered by naming “My Favorite First Lady.” A new member, Mary Grace Martin, was installed by the president. Members voted to give a do nation to the county project, Halfway House. Plans were made for the spring rally, set for May 15 at the Town and Country. The next meeting will be held March 15 at the Maytown Fire Hall, when husbands of the members will be the special guests. SOCIETY 22 Mr. Robert Millard was guest speaker at a recent meeting of Society of Faim Women 22 held in the home of Mrs. Richard Ferry, Horseshoe Road, assisted by Mrs Kenneth Hoover. Mrs. Paul Miller presided Mrs. Clair Witmer, Lampeter, was installed as a new member. The club approved a gift of 525 to be forwarded to the Coun ty Farm Women treasurer, Mrs. Abram Weidman, to be credited to the County project, Halfway House. The county gift will be piesented in October following a tally of gifts from the local societies. Members were given enve lopes with the farm women em blem in which the individual members are requested to en close a letter to Governor Ray mond Shafer, Representatives Sherman L. Hill and Marvin Miller, and State Senator Rich ard Snyder to express their views on supporting legislation on the resolutions adopted by the Pennsylvania Society of Farm. Women at the recent con vention in Harrisburg. The resolutions deal with opposition to the liberalization of liquor laws, preservation of natural re sources, Bible reading in public schools and partriotism. In other business, plans were made for a household sale which will be held March 8 at 10 a m on Hans Herr Drive at the resi dence of Mrs Maud Ranck. The society will be in charge of a refreshment stand. The next meeting will be held March 11 in the Fellowship Hall of the Covenant United Melho SOCIETY 18 Society of Farm Women 18 met last Saturday at the home of Mis David Rohrer, 142 Main St., Landisville. Mis Lewis Mengel was in charge of devo tions. Mrs. Edward Wissler, presi dent, conducted the business meeting. It was voted to donate $75 to the Farm and Home Center. Society 18 will sew at the Gen eral Hospital on Thursday, March 6. Miss Lois Rohrer entertained the group on the marimbas Mrs Martha Greenwalt spoke to the women on how to remodel old furs.
