Care Adds $381,000 To Help
Nigeria-Biafra War Victims
Additional distributions of
$lBl,OOO worth of baby cereals
and rice, bought in the United
States, and $200,000 in locally
purchased foods or iclief sup
plies have been authorized by
CARE for starvation victims of
the Nigeria-Biafia conflict.
The high-protein baby cereals,
totalling 50 tons at $25,000, and
500 tons of unpolished rice at
$156,000, will be delivered to Bi
afra through the facilities of the
International Committee of the
Red Cross, coordinating agency
for outside relief assistance.
Each food repiesents a combin
ation of proteins and caibohy
diates, to meet urgent nutrition
al requirements icported by re
lief officials on the scene.

Richard G. Peacock has joined
the nutritional staff of Miller &
Bushong, Inc, where he will
work with Dr Thomas Culton, I
General Manager of feed pro
duction, in research and formu
lation
Peacock obtained his B S De
gree in Poultry and Agricultural
Sciences from the University of
Connecticut in 1963, and his
Masters Degree in Poultry Nu
trition and Biochemistry from
the same institution in 1965.
On January 15, 1969, Peacock
successfully passed the require
ments for his Doctor’s Degree
in Poultry Nutrition at the Uni
versity of Maryland.
Mr. and Mrs Peacock have
taken up residence at 1521 Pas
sey Lane, Lancaster.

Janes, of Bloomfield, Conn, is
en route to Lagos from his post
in India to assist in the emerg
ency program. Both Bault, who
comes from Villanova, Pa , and
Janes are veterans of the mas
sive famine relief program
CARE conducted last year in
Bihar, India.
Previous CARE aid in the Ni
gena-Biafra crisis totals approx
imately $200,000, including food,
drugs, vitamins, medicated soap,
reconstruction equipment for an
orphanage destroyed in the hos
tilities, farm and rebuilding
tools for resettled refugees.
Operations began last July.
