U S farm turkey prices dur ing the first half of 1969 are ex pected to be Ito 15 cents above the low prices of the same pe riod of 1968 Slaughter during this period may be off 10%, but farm prices will be held down to about 20 5 cents, as storage stocks are reduced. The 1969 tuikev crop is ex pected to be around 5% larger than in 1968 However, a great deal of uncertainty exists con cerning grower plans because movement into consumption during the major marketing sea son of 1968 has been slower and at a lower puce than expected. In the third quarter prices are expected to average 33 cents, 3 to 4 cents a dozen under a year earlier. In the last quarter of 1969 these prices will likely be 33 cents, 5 to 6 cents a dozen under the same months of the previous year The highest egg prices of 1969 are expected in January and the lowest in De cember. „ , The US. laying flock will pvobably start 1969 about 10 million birds below a year earli er, but will go ahead of 1968 levels during the third quarter.
