Com mon 15 30 Chicago Cattle Weekly Review CATTLE Compared with last Friday, slaughter steers and heifers strong to 25 higher, cows steady to 50 lower, bulls un changed Modest price upturns in slau ghter steers and heifers appear ed to be the result of higher wholesale dressed beef prices early in the week By mid week, buyers m the live trade were very aggressive for most grades and weights of steers and heif ers Local receipts consisted of 75 percent slaughter steers. 21 percent heifers and the balance mainly cows Overall finish of slaughter steers was the same as last weeks 10 percent Prime and 78 percent Choice, and about the same as last years 10 percent Prime and 79 percent Choice Average cost and weight of slaughter steers, es timated at 28.75 and 1155 lbs. the latter the heaviest since September compares with 28 49 and 1149 lbs. last week, and 26.38 and 1156 lbs a year ago. Heifer supply largely high good to aveiage prime, weighing 850- 1050 lbs.
