last year. Supply 75 percent
slaughter steers. 20 percent heif
ers and the balance mainly
cows. Overall finish of slaughter
steers was about the same as
last weeks 10 percent Prime
and 77 percent Choice, and com
pares with 12 percent Prime
and 76 percent Choice a year
ago Average cost and weight of
slaughter steers, estimated at
28 30 and 1140 lbs, compared
with 28.42, the highest since
April, 1966 and 1143 lbs last
week and 26 95 and 1156 lbs a
