READ LABEL BEFORE SPRAYING PESTICIDES Livestock treated with certain pesticides for control of insects and other pests such as lice, cattle grub and ticks, must be held a certain number of days before being slaughtered, says David 0. Quinn, extension specialist at West Virginia Uni versity. The label on the pesticide will contain the. information neces sary for'determining the waiting period from application to slaughter. Directions must be followed exactly to avoid illegal residue that contaminates meat. Proper use of pesticides will protect livestock, eliminate harmful residue and increase your production of high-quality animals that sell at a good price, Quinn says.
