In addition to the importance of agricultural land for future food and fiber production, the report outlines a rapidly grow ing need for recreation areas and an orderly expansion of our population and economy to pie vent ghettos. “The need for and methods of picserving agiicultuial land for agricultural use is in reality a complex problem involving all of Pennsylvania’s residents,” Bull told the Governor The committee has scheduled 11 statewide public hearings to discuss its icport and learn the viewpoints and recommenda tions of individual citizens, groups and organizations. The first of these hearings is sched uled at Collegeville on January 6. Testimony may be presented from 9:30 a m. to 3 p m. Other locations and dates in clude Gettysburg, January 8; Harrisburg, January 10 and 14; State College, January 21; Mead ville, January 22; Butler, Janu ary 23; Sunbury, January 28; Williamsport, January 29; Scran ton, January 30; Greensburg, February 12, and Hollidaysburg, February 13. Following a study of plans ad vanced by other states, informa tion gathered through the pub lic hearings and a thorough ex amination of the situation m Pennsylvania, the committee will offer conclusions and lec ommendations in a final report scheduled for completion by June.
