The major decision facing sub committee members at the meet ing is the establishment of a rate of assesment for dairymen. Over six billion pounds of milk were produced in the Commonwealth in 1967, with most going to the wholesale market. Once the provisions of the marketing program have been finalized by the sub-committee, dairymen will vote in a referen dum. Two-thirds of the dairy men in number and not less than 50 percent by volume must ap prove the marketing program in order for it to become effective. A marketing program approv ed by producers of an agricul tural commodity , must be re viewed and again considered through a referendum every three years. ‘ Tile marketing program is de signed to provide the Common wealth's dairymen with a coor- 10 DAY TOUR To St. Petersburg, Florida You can enjoy this vacation tour at the cost of only $13.50 per day or 10 days $135.00 total cost. Rose Bushes The eradication of multiflora rose bushes seems to be bother ing some local farmers; we are not surprised at the increased interest to eliminate these plants because they were questionable from the very beginning. If some of our state and federal agencies will become as active in trying to get rid of them as they were to get farmers to plant them, then the problem of eradication will have consider able support. We are aware of a number of cases where the plants are spreading wild in pas ture and woodlots. Where the rows are between cultivated fields, the task of keeping them under control is reduced. Grub bing of the plants and their en tire root system might be one way to get rid of them, but very difficult to get all. of the roots Save while you’re young aren’t you glad your rich grand father saved when he was young?
