September 28.1968 GRANGE NEWS Tho annual Booslor Night was observed by Fulton Grange #66 September 23 at the Grange hall in Oakryn. 110 people attended the covered dish supper at 7 p.m. which was followed bv a program presented by the Lec turer, Mrs. Jesse Wood. Clifford W. Holloway Jr., Mas ter, reads a letter from National Grange Master, Herschel D. Newsom. He also enumerated some of the activities of Fulton Grange in the past year. Four visitors from Red Lion Grange, York Co., were introduced. The Little Britain Sewettes 4-H Club which is sponsored by Fulton Grange presented the program and fashion show. Miss Beth Preston gave “The High lights Of The Club’s 4-H Year.” Mrs. Harry Wilson sang a solo and accompanied on the piano a vocal duet by her daughters Ju dith and Roxy. Miss Carole Holloway was narrator for the fashion show. The following guls modelled clothing they made this summer: First year Linda Shepherd, Linda Wood, Lynne Hart, Roxy Wilson and Janet Jackson. Sec ond year Vicki Brown, Rox anne Ward, Barbara Taylor, Ca thy Taylor, Janice DeLong, Deb ra Rowe and Jill Temple. Ph. 653-1451 Bull Pledges Support Of Peoch Growers State Agriculture Secretary Leland H Bull today pledged “the full support and coopera tion” of the Department of Ag riculture in tracking down the source of a disease that is en dangering peach orchards in Pennsylvania. The condition has killed tiees and caused loss of fruit in peach growing areas of Pennsylvania and other states this season, he stated. “The situation is serious and everything possible must be done to isolate the cause,” Sec retary Bull said, "The Pennsyl vania Department of Agricul ture will cooperate in every way in seeking a solution to this problem.” He indicated that his depart ment is prepared to assist in re seal ch to identify and control a virus suspected of causing the trouble. Damage, he said, shows up in orchards causing stunting of giowth, followed by defoliation and final death of tiees. The situation has developed a mounting concern in recent weeks among growers, state and federal Agriculture Depart ments, and scientists at The Pennsylvania State Univeisity. ren Samples, one of the 4-H Leaders was introduced. Mis Jes se Wood gave a reading ‘ The Grange Cares” which was fol lowed by group singing “Bless Be The Tie.” Lancaster Co Pomona Grange will meet at the Fulton Grange hall October 19, 8 pm when the Fifth Degiee will be con ferred.
