State Grange Talent
Contest Set For Oct. 5
Flnnlists in the Pennsylvania
State Grange talent contest will
be selected October 5 in four
district eliminations at Kutz
town. Roaring Spring, Roches
ter. and Canton, John W. Scott,
state master, said this week.
Scott said eliminations al
ready have been held in Subor
dinate Granges throughout the
state and that these winners
have been further screened in
Pomona (county) meets where
the district entrants were nam
ed.
District winners will compete
for state honors October 21 at
the 96th State Grange conven
tion at Butler. Best of show on
the state finals will represent
Pennsylvania in the United
States finals at the National
Grange convention, November
12-22 at Peoria, 111,
Contestants will appear in in
dividual or group performances
in vocal or instrumental num
bers, in other acts, as square or
folk dance teams, and as family
vocal or instrumental musical
groups All contests are open to
the public.
In addition, talent competi
tion at the state meeting will
include art and color photo
graph contests for both Subor
dinate and Junior Granges, and
another in visitation emblems
and scrap books.
First place winners in art and
photography will be eligible for
national competition at the
Peoria meeting
Sites for the district elimina
tions wiil be in the Grange hall
at Kutztown. Junior High
School at Roaring Spring, Ele
mentai y school at Canton and

Members of the Pennsylvania
Egg Marketing Association were
advised to see that the state is
not overlooked in any move to
gain a stronger position in egg
marketing for producers
The advice came from a
PEMA membei, Samuel Beren
son of York, who said that it ap
peared that Pennsylvania, one of
the nation’s most important egg
marketing and production states,
had been left out of a national
movement spearheaded by the
National Egg Co and the New
England Egg Marketing Associa
tion
“We should be ready with a
representative to protect our in
terests,” said Berenson
