September 7.1968 Several states have passed legislation requiring or per mitting the use of the “Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem” (SMV) to protect motorists from rear-end collisions with slow vehicles on streets and highways. The triangular em blem, 16 inches wide and 14 inches high, combines a yellow orange fluorescent center and a border of red reflective sheeting. The fluorescent center “glows” vividly in day light. The reflective border “bounces” light back to oncoming cars at night. The SMV was developed after three years of research at Ohio State University on a grant from the Automotive Safety Foundation. It is design ed to be placed on the rear of all vehicles that regularly operate at speeds of 25 miles per hour or less. • Pa Price $23 50, and sheep were down a (Continued from Page 1) dime to St t ee f and * eife > s was down 1 cent Alfalfa hay «ere up 20 cents to $2050 and was unchanged at S2B 00. while calves were up 40 cen's to $33 00. the all hay price increased 50 The pi ices received index for cents to 325 00. all fam pioduets, a measure of Prices leceived for meat ani- the change in puces received by mals weie down 3 percent.
