Judging the five finalists in
each category were Mary Ann
Breneman, East Petersburg, a
former 4-H Queen, and Clair
Zerby and Donald Robinson,
vocational - agriculture teachers
at Warwick and Garden Spot
High Schools, respectively.
The finalists were the winners
fiom among 60 entries in a pre
liminary contest held last week.
Miss Hess, 16, a junior at
Lampeter - Strasburg High
School, said in her introductory
speech: “I will always treasure
the friends I have made in 4-H.”
She is in her seventh year in
4 H

Miss Nauman, 14, a ninth
grader at Manheim Central
High School, said she would like
to become a teacher. She said
her most outstanding experience
in her three years in 4-H was
making a skirt and advancing to
higher levels in sewing.

County 4-H Council, served as
master of ceremonies.
Preceding the Queens Con
test, a Talent Contest with 22
entries was held in the audito
rium.
Evelyn Adams won $25 first
prize for her piano solo. In
second place and winning $l5
was Marlene Hess. Third place
went to the Averril Royer
Group. It included Larry Herr,
Lynn Heistand, Dick Buckwal
ter, Gail Schaeffer, Ken Risser,
and Miss Royer. They won $lO
Judges for the talent show
were Harry Kraft, of the County
Superintendent of Schools
Office, and Dorothy Fry,
Stevens Rl. Jim Rowley, radio
personality, served as master of
ceremonies.
Other senior queen finalists
were Dixie Good, Linda Ober,
Ann Roth. Other junior final
ists were Beverly Eby, Jan
Filling, and Teresa Harley.
