Dairy Club held it’s meeting re
cently at the farm of R. Hohn
Yost. Wayne Yost gave n show
ing demonstration and the club
picked their 4-H queen renre
sentatives. In the Junior Divi
sion Rhoda Stauffer was select
ed and Nanette Stauffer was
chosen in the Senior Division.
The next meeting will be the
joint 4-H Dairy Club meeting on
Monday, August 12, at the Farm
and Home Center.
CLASHING THIMBLES
The Clashing Thimbles Sewing
Club held their Bth meeting re-
cently at the Penn Manor Jr.
High School.
They discussed ways of using
their money for under-privileged
children.
The Roundup was set to be
held last Wednesday at 9 00 a m
in the Jr. High School

air, but weeds also make an ex
cellent home for injects and
disease • causing organisms,” he
cautioned.
One way of not being bother
ed with weeds for some time to
come, Is to do a good job con
trolling them for at leas* 2 to 3
years. Generally, complete con
trol of weeds for cne year re
duces their numbers for eight
years.
Each year weeds distribute
billions of seeds on the soil. De
pending on the type of weed,
many of the seeds will germin
ate the first year. However, many
of the seeds remain in the soil
for several years before they
