SOCIETY 2
A tribute to mothers based on
the hymn, “I Would Be True”,
was the subject for meditation
by the Rev. Norman Bucher,
pastor of the Manheim United
Church of Christ, when he ad
dressed Society of Farm Women
2 as they entertained members
of Society 4 at the Farm & Home
Center.
Sharon Shenk, a junior at Man
heim Central High School, pre
sented several selections at the
piano accordion. She is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Sadie
Shenk, Society 2. Serving on the
refreshment committee were
Mrs. Nathan Oberholtzer, Mrs.
Harry Miller and Mrs. Rufus
Waltz.
Mrs. Earl Petticoffer conduct
ed the business meeting of Socie
ty 2. She announced plans to en
tertain patients at the Embree
ville State Hospital on May 17.
Slides of DuPont Gardens will be
shewn by Mrs. Alvin Gray bill,
followed by refreshments. The
group plans to meet at the Man
heim Mennonite Church at 6 p.m.
The next meeting of Society 2
will be at Christ Home, Paradise
at 2:30 p.m. on Ju i 15. Follow
ing the business meeting, a play
hour with the three to six year
olds will be held.
Also announced was the Coun
ty Board meeting at the Salunga
Pavilion on Aug 6 when a picnic
will be held for all county farm
women and families: the Spring
Rally at Collegeville on Thurs
day for State Farm Women: and
Camp Swatara registration
The camp is open to any home
maker on Aug. 25, 26 and 27. So
ciety 2 will send coffee, cream
and sugar for Farm Women Day
VACATION

Society of Farm Women 27
were guests of Society 25 on Sat
urday at the Conestoga Metho
dist Church, with 33 persons
from the two societies present,
including the county officers.
Mrs. Glenn Nauman, of Socie
ty 25, conducted the business
meeting. Slides of California
were shown by Mrs. Mahlon
Mohr.
Society 27 will take a bus trip
to Atlantic City on July 9. The
trip will take the place of the
August meeting
The annual family picnic will
be held July 28 at 12:30 in the
Sico Park, Mt. Joy.
