Fanners Increased May 1
The U S Department of Agri

tion to amend Federal milk or
ders to increase fluid milk pric
ts to dairy farmers This nuion

markets except in Florida, which
are being considered separately.
USDA's Consumer and Mar
keting Service officials said the
increases will be effective as of
May 1. The price actions will
continue the 20 cent increase in
the fluid milk (Class I) price
differentials in effect since last
May and provide a minimum
basic formula price of $4.33 a
hundredweight, through April

tral Illinois orders, due to expire
June 30, 1968. have been extend
ed through April 1969.
The amended orders are bas
ed on evidence presented at a
national public hearing on milk
order prices Feb. 23 in Mem
phis. Tenn. The hearing was re
quested by dairy farmers. Its
terms are the same as those of
the final decision issued April
15. The necessary approval of at
least two-thirds (three-fourths in
a few' orders) of dairy farmers
supplying each order area was
determined by polling their co
operative associations
The farmers asked for USDA
action to assure price stability
to enable them to better plan
their dairy operations for the
coming year, and be able to con
tinue providing steady, sure sup
plies of high-quality milk for
consumers

by that university as part of its
non-professional program. Stu
