Saturday, February 3,1968 12 AAMA Is Seeking An improved Regulatory Program For Broilers The Amencan Agncultuial Maiketing Association is seek ing an improved regulatory pro giam for the broiler industry undei the direction of the Pack ei s & Stockyards Administra tion of the U S Department of Agnculture, according to Ken neth Hood, manager of the As sociation This was among several rec ommendations made by the AAMA bi oiler advisory com mittee at its recent meeting and approved by the Association The Association approved a committee recommendation that AAMA encourage the American Faim Buieau Federation to ob tain moie adequate funds to ad minister the Packeis & Stock yards Act Another lecommendation ap pioved by the Association was that AAMA encouiage the broil ei industry not to increase hi oiler production in 1968 over 1967, and that the situation be reviewed later this year rela tive to making a recommenda tion for 1969 The leadership of AAMA was asked to use its influence with all lending agencies and encour age them to use more discretion in lending money for new poul tiy house constiuction and that an information and publicitj piogram be implemented rela tive to the economics of bi oiler pi oduction The Association appioved a recommendation that one or moie growers be appointed by AAMA to meet with national contractois for negotiating pur poses, along with one or more AAMA staff members The committee recommended that AAMA encourage the American Faim Bureau Feder ation to continue working with the poultry division, U S De partment of Agriculture, toward the objective of constantly im proving the poultry inspection service, including the further development and implementa tion of standardized inspection criteria and procedures Rest is for the dead Thom as Carlyle [High ProilSfi Forage Crapsi SfoSnum pEDsJ For better-paying harvests con tact your Hotfman Seed Man. Mr Pantano told of the purpose of this program and ex plained all the services offered to the people of southern Lan caster Co. through their multi purpose center at Elim. The public is invited to attend their meetings at the center which meet legularly on the third Monday evening of each month They are anxious to learn the needs and services the people can use. They wish to act as a media for employment if peo ple will let them know when they need hired help and peo ple will come to them seeking employment They will also as sist young people in securing training in a profession “Head Start” is a part of this pro gram The progiam is financed by the federal government.
