Trophy Bucks Turn Up

A dozen or more trophy bucks
behoved to be big enough for

record book were examined at
the Pennsylvania Game Com
mission's four deer checking
stations during the first week
of the 1967 buck season.
The Boone and Crockett Club
is the internationally-recognized .
organization which compiles of- ,
ficral records of North Amen- ;
can big game trophies.
About 4,000 bucks were ex- i
amined at the deer checking ,
stations tot week, and a large
number of fine specimens
turned up. Many whitetaiis
could not be examined because
jaws were frozen shut.
The largest deer checxed was
a 188-pounder taken an Susque- 1
hamia County, Westmoreland
County also produced several
deer weighing over 180 pounds,
and a 13-year-oid 'Sandy Labe
youth, 'Mark B. Voorhees,
tagged a 12-point, 4Va -year-old
trophy which weighed 180
