This total marked a new
high and a 30 percent increase
over the number benefited in
fiscal 1966.
USDA’s Farmers Home Ad
ministration advanced a total
of $1,390,000,000 to borrowers

major effort to help improve
the quality of life in rural
America,” the Secretary said.
Those benefiting from the
agency’s services in fiscal 1967
included 355,000 farm and ru
ral families receiving loans
during the year or using cred
it advanced in prior years.
Also included were 400,000
families forming rural groups

tration credit.
Mr. Freeman cited these ex
amples of benefits which re
sulted in fiscal 1967' from
Farmers Home Administration
programs
—More than 1,000,000 rural
residents will be served by
the 1,112 community water or
sewer systems being built or
improved with $1751 million
in loans and $22 5 million in
grants.
