Local Holstein Breeders Almost
Shut Out At State B & W Show
HARRISBURG The only
individual class win for Lan
caster exhibitors in the 14th
annual Pennsylvania Black and
White Show held here Tues
day, was Susan Kauffman’s
Penn Springs Bill Topper Jun
ior Yearling Heifer.
In what was described as the
largest black -and white show
in the nation. 373 entries pa
raded before* judge John L.
McKitrick.
Senior and grand champion
in the eight and one-half hour
show was Miss Ivanhoe Scran
ton, a milking four-year-old
Ivanhoe daughter shown by
Raymond A. Seidel She also
had the best udder of the show.
Twinkle Edgefield Star Se
quoia, also a four-year-old
shown by Andrew Stoltzfus,
Caernarvon Farm, Elverson R 2,
followed the grand champion
to reserve grand, reserve sen
ior and reserve best udder.
The Premier Breeder award
went to Allen Dairy Farms,
Inc. Mechamcstourg, This ban
ner was presented by Fulton
way Farms, Lancaster, repre
sented by Mrs J. Mowery Frey
Jr. Allen Dairy also won the
Premier Exhibitor award.

business and will sell his entire stock of hogs at public sale on the
premises, located along the Hanover-Baltimore Pike, Md., Rt. 30,
one mile North of Manchester, Maryland, the following:
ISO SOWS Hampshire, Yorkshire, Hampshire & Yorkshire
crossed, a few Berkshires. About 50 of these sows will farrow by
day of sale, 50 will farrow within 30 to 45 days after sale, 50 will
have been recently bred. These sows have been producing nice
large litters.
