Club mem bers met at John O’Donnell Park for their annual hot dog roast. Things such as the Flow er and Vegetable roundup, and the time and place of the next meeting were discussed. Refreshments were served by Richard Lefever, a club leader. BRUNNERVILLE STITCHERS PLAN CLUB ROUNDUP by Debbie Kleinfelter, reporter The Lexington Hill Top SUtchers 4-H club met at the Brunnerville Fire Hall on Mon day August 21, at 7 p.m. The meeting was called to order and Mrs. Smith, leader, explained about 4-H roundup. It will be held Monday, August 28 iat the Brunnerville Fire Hall at 7 p.m. On August 31 the club will have, a social meeting for par ents and friends. The girls will model their garments and re freshments will be served. The following girls partici pated in the 4-H Dress Revue at Meadow Hills: Marta Smith, Candice Seiverling, Nancy Bear and Cynthia Charles Following the business meeting the girls worked on their projects. Mrs Smith showed the third year girls how to make a handmade button hole. If men had no faith in one another, all of us would have to live within our incomes. PENN MANOR CLUB TO DONATE $lOO TO F&ll by Linda Porter, reporter After hearing assistant coun ty agent Jay Irwin explain the current needs of the Lancas ter County Farm & Home Cen ter, members of the Penn Man or 4-H Club voted to donate $lOO to the fund drive. Meeting August 22 at the home of Betty Jane Barley, the members had a social session following the business meeting. Activities included a treasure hunt and a hot dog roast. Three demonstrations were given by Sharon Kreider who displayed a driftwood arrange ment with candles and dried flowers; Denise Jurell who made a watermelon punch bowl and watermelon punch, and Carol Kreider who constructed an attractive Santa Claus gift by using red tissue paper, cot ton and construction paper to cover a tissue box. Bach girl exhibited a snack tray and her project books which were judged by Miss Sharyanne Schreiber, from the Agricultural Extension Office, Lancaster, and Mrs. Bucher. Following the meeting, re freshments the girls made were served which consisted of: homemade ice cream, sand wiches, peanut brittle, brown ies, and watermelon punch. A cooking contest was held for girls participating in the 4-H What’s Cookin’ Clubs dur ing Achievement Day which was held at the Lampeter Com munity Fair Grounds. Four members of the local club re ceived ribbons and cook books for their entries. They are: Virginia Bomberger, angel food cake; Denise Jurell, dec orated cake in the shape of a rabbit; Sharon Kreider, spice cake and Karen Bushong, shoo fly cake.
