average 14.73 cents per lb.
Prices ranged steadily down
ward throughout the week
from a high of 15.8 cents on
Monday to a low of 13.7 cents
per lb on Thursday.
Sales for the week totaled
nearly Vi-million head less than
last week, staying slightly
above the one million head
figure.

Cattle and calves on feed for
slaughter on Pennsylvania
farms July 1, totaled 47.000
head, according to the Penn
sylvania Crop Reperting Ser
vice. This was 15 percent less
than a year earlier, and 38 per
cent less than on Apiil 1 this
year. Fed cattle marketed dur
ing the past quarter totaled 41.-
000 up 2.000 or five percent
from a year earlier. Place
ments during the quarter
totaled 12,000 down 5,000
or 29 percent from a year ago.
Cattle on feed less than three
months July 1 numbered 10,-
000: three to six months, 12,-
000: and more than six
months, 25,000 Expected
marketings for the July-Septem
ber quarter at 30,000: if rea
lized would be 12 percent be
low the 34.000 marketed during
the same period in 1966.
