Poultry Technician
Course Set July 17-20
HARRISBURG The Penn
sylvania Department of Agricul
ture has announced that appli
cations will be received until
July 1 for enrollment in the
sixth poultry technician train
ing course for qualified laymen.
July 17 through 20, at the Penn
Slate University.
Application blanks are avail
able from the Bureau of Ani
mal Industry in Harrisburg
Each application must be ac
companied by a check or money
order for S 5 payable to the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvan
ia. This fee will be returned if
the applicant is not accepted
for training or if he fails to
qualify for a license An appli
cant must be 21. a citizen of the
United States (or legally declar
ed his intention to become a
citizen), of good moral charact
er. and have completed at least
eight years of education or its
equivalent.
The class will be limited to
approximately 15 trainees Sat
isfactory completion of the
course leads to issuance of a
license as a poultry technician.
Ims permits the licensee to
engage in the drawing of blood
samples from chickens and
other fowl to be used in the
slate’s pullorum disease testing
program, supplementing the
work of veterinarians. The
technician, however, is prohibit
ed from performing any other
function requiring a veterinari
an’s license
