For example, Henkel noted, when the shows started three years ago, any hog cutting 40 percent was al most certain to be a winner. In this week’s show more than one-third of the entries cut over 40 percent ham and loin. OTHER PL AGINGS The next three placings in the carcass show, following the champion and reserve champi on, were: 3 - Elwood Houser, Lebanon R 3, a Yorkshire, 13 inches backfat, 4 5 square inch loin eye, and a ham-loin percentage of 41.5. 4- Homes Farm, Eliz abethtown, a Duroc, 1.2 inches backfat, 4 6 square inch loin eye, and a 41.5 ham-loin per centage. 5- Cogley, Honks Rl, a Yorkshire, 13 inches back fat, 4.4 square inches loineye, and 41.4 ham-loin percentage Carcass analysis was super- Featured speaker Roland vised and calculated by live- Paul, executive vice president stock extension specialist of the National Pork Produc- Dwight Younkin, of Penn State ers Count il, Des Moines, lowa, University The animals were told the swine producers about cut up Wednesday at Kunzler the Council’s piogram for pro- St Co, Inc.
