Also appointed was a game
committee consisting of Louis
Hurst and Clark Stauffer, both
of Ephrata Rl, and Leon Roy
Martin, Stevens Rl.
A demonstration on how
soils are formed was given by
Clark and Ronald Stauffer. By
heating rocks and dropping
them into ice water, the boys
demonstrated how rocks break
up into various sized particles.
They also showed how rocks
can be split when water col
lects in crevices and then
freezes.
Club leader Aaron Stauffer
urged any conservation-minded
youngsters between the ages of
9 and 19 to attend the next
club meeting at his home on
February 3, at 7 30 p.m.
The Conservation Club is co
sponsored by the county ex
tension office and the soil and
water conservation district.
