Agriculture Is Nation’s Largest
Employer, Careers Study Shows
While less than seven mil
lion workers earn a living di
rectly from farming, agricul
ture. including production,
marketing, manufacturing,
processing and education, is
America’s biggest employer.
According to a publication
prepared by the National As
sociation of State Universities
and Land-Grant Colleges, 40
percent of all employment in
the United States represents
some phase of agriculture.
In pointing out employment
opportunities for agricultural
ly trained college graduates,
“Rewarding Careers in a Dy
namic Industry” lists these
