Fair Steer Show Grand champion steer at the New Holland Fair was sold at auction Thursday at the New Holland Sales Barn He brought his young owner, Sheryl Weav er of New Holland Rl, $715. Topping the sale at 65 cents per pound, Blaekie was knock ed down to Melvin Kolb, Lan caster. The reserve champion, an other Angus, shown by Larry High of Bareville, was bought by Elam Burkholder of Bare ville for 37 cents per pound, or $36815. The champion Hereford, shown by Mike Smucker, Eph rata R 2, was sold to Zausner Foods, New Holland, at 31 cents per pound for the 1010- pound steer. The 910-pound reserve Here ford, shown by Larry Shreiner of Bareville, went to Burkhold er’s Country Store for 315 cents per pound. Auction of the 24 steers brought an average of 36 27 cents per pound, including the champions, 34 84 cents per pound without the champions. Steers average weight at the sale was 965 pounds.
