10—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 10, 1966 Ballots For Lamb and Wool Referendum Sent Ballots for voting in the referendum on lamb and wool promotion and marketing de veiopment program were mail ed Friday to 238 eligible farm el’s in Lancaster County, ac cording to ASCS chairman Fred Seldomridge. Ballots are to be returned to the county ASCS of!kc by September 23, he added. The referendum will deter mine whether or not deduc tions will continue to be mode from producer payments un der the National Wool Pro gram. Funds collected are used by the American Sheep Produc ers Council to cany out a program of advertising, pro motion and related activities under an agreement with the Secretary of Agriculture. The proposed agreement will become effective if ap proved by at least two-thirds of the total number of pro ducers voting, or, by produc ers having at least two-thirds of the total volume of produc tion represented by votes in the icferendum. If approved, the new agree ment will replace the one which has been in effect since the 1955-crop year.
