challenge gitt on the condition
that a minimum of $200,000
would be raised by the Foun
dation through public subscrip

The Foundation will build
a Farm & Home Center on tke
site when the goal of $375,000
has been subscribed More
than 2.000 farmers and hun
dieds of other commercial and
individual contributors re
sponded to the F & H fund
raising campaign held earlier
this spring
Misses Hershey and Ober
Named 1965 Queens From a
field of 80 hopeful girls repre
senting their respective 4-H
clubs last week, two emerged

retain it permanently.

entitles him to enter the state
contest later this year.

Conservation Directors Meet
With County Planners The
Lancaster County Soil & Water
Conservation District directors
met this week (July 24) for an
informal discussion with coun
ty planning commission direc
tor Ellis Harned.
The conservationists‘were in
terested in getting a better
understanding of the effects of
industrial and population grow
th in the county, and to learn
how local agriculture can best
adapt to these changes.
The conservation directors
plan another meeting with
Harned next month to outline
reasonable goals and objectives
for planning agricultural land
use, and integrating their goals
with those of the planning
commission.
