•Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 25, 1966 8— A LONG WAY FROM THE TOBACCO SHED These were some of the better looking tobacco plants seen this week in the Lititz area, the others were so dried up they wouldn’t even show up in the photo graph. These plants, put out two weeks ago, had some green growth but were not up to par. The farmer felt they’d make it though if they got a good rain in the coming week. Looks like late tobacco this year. This lodged barley is a common sight around Lancaster County since that heavy wind and rain that passed through the area three or four weeks ago. The farmer who owns this field said he had a good crop, both grain and straw, and he thought the combine would pick up most of the gram, but added that another year he doubt ed he would fertilize as heavily.
