Sales for the week totaled
1,675,600 head, a decrease of
slightly more than one-quarter
million head from last week’s
total.

fryer prices continued to hold
steady with good demand for
moderate auction offerings.
Live supplies of 3% lb. birds,
and up, were in short supply
while adequate on other sizes.
Ready-to-cook demand spotty,
ranging slow to fair with some
light feature activity next week
in N.Y, and New England,
areas Prices are trending low
er and very competitive.
Estimated slaughter for this
weekend is 852,000 head com
pared to 922,000 head last
weekend.
In the 24 hours preceding
market close on Friday, broil
ers and fryers live prices rang
ed from 15 7-16.7 cents per lb
on sales of 1,162,600 head.
