4-H Club News
CONESTOGA VALLEY
4-H SEWING CLUB
Nancy Risspr, reporter
The Conestoga Valley Senior
and Junior Sewing Clubs held
a tea for the mothers on Au
gust 17. The highlight of the
tea was a fashion show in
which members modeled their
completed projects. Miss Jo
anne Warner and Miss Eliza
beth Richardson from the Ex
tension Office were the judges.
P. iL. 'Eohier & Bros, awarded
a first and second prize for
each group. Narrators for the
show were Nancy Risser and
Doris Dagen.
The prize winners were: Ist
year —1, Diane Bare; 2, Sus
anne Ruhl; 2nd year —1, Deb
by Trout; 2, Judy Steffy; 3rd
year —1, Carol Bare; 2, Doris
Mellinger; 4th year —1, Doris
Dagen; 2, Vera Denhnger;
Free Lance —1, Nancy Ris
ser; 2, Dorothy Beachy.
Winners of the light bulb
sale in the club were also an
nounced. In the senior club
Patty Bare received first prize
for selling $54 worth of light
bulbs. Carol Herr received
second for selling $53 worth.
Diane Rohrer came in a close
third. In the junior club Bren
da Hootoer was first, with 326
light bulbs sold. Meriam Herr
sold 196 light bulbs to come
in second in the junior club.
(Refreshments were served
by the refreshment committee
which consisted of Vera and
Velma Denlinger, Jane Her
shey, 'Menam Herr, and Don
na Book. The club plans to
visit the Christ Children’s
Home, Paradise August 31.
Games and presents for the
children will be included as
part of the community proj
ect.

Club at its meeting last Thurs
day at the Lilitz Springs Park.
A watermelon paily was fea
tured.
Eric Stoner, club president,
showed slides taken on the ex
change trip to Colorado.
The club will hold a Parents’
Night at the next meeting.
4-H SEWING CLUBS MODEL
AT FULTON GRANGE
Fulton Grange #66 held
their regular meeting August
9 in Oakryn, Pa, with Master
Gyles H. Brown presiding. The
Grange Charter was draped
in memory of Walter Wood,
a member for fifty-three years,
a Past Master and Treasurer
for thirty-seven years.
Seventy-four people went on
the Grange tour to the New
York World’s Fair, July 31.
The Lancaster Co. Pomona
Grange picnic was announced
for Saturday, August 21, 7:30
p.m. at the Fulton Grange
Hall.
Clair Murphy was appoint
ed to fill the unexpired term
as treasurer.
The Little Britain, Fulton
and Drumore 4-H Sewing
Clubs presented the program
and modeled dresses made
this summer. The program
opened with group singing.
