As a result of the Sus quehanna River Basin Study, the District and cooperating Agencies met with some Bor ough Officiate to discuss pos sibilities of flood control in their area. 15. SCS Reports On Year’s Services The Lancaster County Soil Conservation Work Unit of the USD A .Soil Conseivation Service completed the follow ing work during the 1964 cal endar year, according to Wayne M'aresch, county con servationist; A new credit program has been established through the Economic Opportunity A.ct of 1964 for low income families living in rural areas Loans are available to both farmers and other rural residents with incomes that are too low to cover basic needs and that have a reasonable prospect of increasing their earnings through a small amount of credit plus aid in manage ment. The Farmers Home Admin istration was very 'happy to take part in a county wide tour this past year that il lustrated soil and water con servation practices on farms. Richard W Hoover County Supervisor A GRASS WATERWAY, fed by a series of ter races, on a farm in the southwestern part of the county looked like this after experiencing a 6-inch rain in 10 hours. This illustrates the great carrying capacity of these waterways. This waterway is regularly out for hay. EROSION caused by a 6-inch rain on a tobacco field on a farm in the New Danville area without the benefit of such conservation practices as diversion terraces or grass waterways.
