The placements in creased 10 percent from the previous week, and 19 percent from one year ago. Settings for broiler chicks totaled 1,376,000, an increase of 1 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from a year earlier. The current 3- week total of eggs set increas ed 20 percent from last year. Delivered prices generally % cent higher with prices on low side for prior commitments. Estimated slaughter for Friday and Saturday, 807,000 head compared to 1,036,100 head last weekend. Prices paid and reported pur chases for the 24-hour period ending 10:30 a.m. Friday: broil ers and fryers, 17.1-18.3; 1,- 059,500 head, including 382,100 head purchased of 414,500 head offered at Eastern Poultry Growers Exchange Thursday.
