No Salmonella
In Clean Eggs
Clean, unbioken, shell eggs
have never been recognized as
the guilty party in an out
break of salmonellosis, accord
ing to Dr. Eldon E. Rice, Sci
entific Consultant to the Poul
try and Egg National Board.
He cited surveillance stud
ies, such as those being car
ried out at the Communicable
Disease Center of the U. S.
Public Health Service in At
lanta, Georgia. The team of sci
entists working there has found
that sound, clean eggs are not
presently involved in salmonel
losis, a disease caused by food
borne bacteiia.
