Ice Cream Is
Most Popular
Dairy Food
HARRISBURG Ice cream,
most populai fiozen confection
for Pennsylvanians, conforms
in weight and quality to rigid
standaids fixed by state law,
Secretary of Agiiculture Ice

These standards, he said, ap
ply to all ice cream offered for
sale in the commonwealth.
Pennsylvania stands second
only to California in ice cream
production.
On a weight basis Pennsyl
vania ice cream standards top
Federal requirements 4.75
pounds per gallon to 4.5
pounds. Pints must weigh a
net of 9% ounces and half
gallons, 38 ounces.
In Pennsylvania ice cream
must contain at least 1.8
pounds of food solids per (gal

Co. Farm Women
Board Meets
The executive board of the
Lancaster County Society of
Farm Women met at the home
of Mrs Aaron Denlinger, Soci-
ety 7, with Mrs. Samuel Dum,
Society 19, as assisting hostess
for the Tuesday meeting.
Miss Clare Gardner, Society
9, led the devotions. Mrs. Lan
dis Myer, president, presided
at the business meeting. A cita
tion for service from the USO
was presented to the group.
Mrs. Myer also thanked the so
cieties for help at the Heart
Haven Bazaar.
On Aug. 8 and 9, several of
the societies will make and
serve chicken corn soup and
do applique for the Rock Ford
open house. The County proj
ect for the coming year will
be the Child Development Cen
ter. Each of the 25 societies
in the County will contribute
to this project. A donation of
$lOO will be given to the Citi
zens Scholarship Fund.
