in the area, was opened for
the first time here this morn
ing when Gay Wiechers, “Miss
Lancaster County 1964” cut a
ribbon of ensp new currency at
the doors of the mam office of
Lancaster County Farmers Na
tional Bank The valuable rib
bon was immediately presen
ted to Paul Murray, president
of the Lancaster Heart Asso
ciation, with instructions to ap
ply funds for the benefit of
Heart Ha\en.
The new bank at 23 East
King Street is an institution
cieated little more than a
month ago by consolidation of
The Lancaster County National
Bank and the Farmers Bank
& Trust Company of Lancaster.
The building occupies the site
of the former Lancaster Coun
ty National Bank and Stern’s
Furniture Stole.
Watching the 'ceremonies
were officials of the bank, to
gether with elected city and
county leaders, headed by May
or George B Coe and Chair
man of the Lancaster County
Commissioners, Benjamin F.
Weaier.
Special events highlighting
the opening continued through
out the week with a formal
dedication program, featured
by the appearance of the Hon
orable Kathryn O’Hay Grana
han, Treasurer of the United
States, on Thursday evening.
Dr. Robert V. Moss, Jr , presi
dent of the Lancaster Theolo
gical Semmaiy, officially dedi
cated the building.
The week’s program will ibe
concluded with Open House to
the public on Friday and Sat
uiday, January 24 and 25.
