Prices Drop
Live broiler prices were up
fractionally from last week’s
post-holiday sale at the Lan
caster Poultry Center.
At the December 5 sale
twelve lots of broilers includ
ing 67,150 birds brought prices
of 14.2 to 14.9 for a sale
average of 14 49. The previous
week’s sale, postponed to Fri
day hy the Thanksgiving holi
day, sold 57,400 head at an
average price of 14.12.
All broilers at the Decem
ber 5 auction were sold. Only
three lots of heavier birds fail
ed to sell at the offered prices.
Two lots of 3,200 pullets
brought 20.9 and 22, while
one lot of 400 roasters made
£3.4. Two lots of leghorn
fowl, including 3,600 head,
brought 8.2 and 8.4, and a lot
of 1,600 heavy fowl sold for
15.2. A lot of 750 pullets
brought. 15.5.

sale offered 97,765 birds in 22
lots and sold 76,765 birds in
19 lots.
