Dairy cows sold barely steady
at the August 28 auction. A
total of 203 cows, five stock
bulls and 13 stock heifers cross
ed the block.
Fresh Holstein cows brought
$275-440; Guernseys $l5O-225,
and othej breeds $l5O-225. Bulls
were $l4O-210, and heifers
brought $65-135.
The 214 head sold steady but
slow at the August 26 horse
sale
Riding horses brought $lOO
- driving horses were $lOO
to $215. Pony mares brought
$4O-115 and geldings $3O-115.
Killer horses were 6Vfc to 7V&
cents a pound.
The 591 market hogs were
25 lower at the August 26 sale.
Retail hogs to local butchers
brought 19 25 to 20. Grades 1
to 3 to the packers were 18.25
to 18.60, and heavyweights were
17.75-18 25. Sows brought 14 to
16.
Calves sold steady to strong
as 115 head changed hands -at
the August 26 sale Choice and
prime vealers were 29-35, good
and low choice 26-29, standard
23-26, and common 16 to 23.
