Live broiler prices remained
about steady at the May 9 auc
tion at the Lancaster Poultry
Center.
Twenty-five lots containing
124.185 head of broilers
brought 15.6 to 17. G for a
safe average of 15.84.
-One thousand heavy fowi in
three lots brought 14.0 to
18.4. One lot of 1,300 pullets
Hol'd for' 24, arid one lot of
1,700‘ roasters-were 21 2. A lot
of 550 leghorn fowl sold for
9 cents a pound.
The complete sale offered
133.995 head in 32 lots and
sold 128,795 head in 31 lots.

chased head at farms during
the 24 hour period ending

This was an advance of near
ly a quarter cent over the pre
vious day. The demand was
good for the' light offerings.
Estimated slaughter by eas
tern shore _processors for the
week end was 704,000 head
compared to the 811,000 head
last week end.
The Delmarva broiler-feed
ratio for the week ending May
3 was steady with the previous
week at 3.1 Broilers during the
week averaged 15 05 per pound
