Growers Resist Drop
Broiler prices at the Lancas
ter Poultry Center this week
averaged 14 56 as 46,400 head
in nine lots changed hands at
prices ranging from 14 4 to
15 0. The average price at the
November 8 sale was 267
lower than the average of
17 23 last week.
Growers expressed their dis
pleasure at the lower price by
putting the “No Sale” sign on
12 lots containing 41,000 birds
at bids ranging from 13 to
14.8.
Two lots of 1,300 leghorn
fowl brought 8.3 to 8.4 while
,1,700 heavy fowl in two lots
.brought 16.6 to 16.7. Three
lots of pullets sold for 23 and
£4 for the 2,200 head, and
4,800 roasters in four lots
brought 22.2 to 26.4.
A lot of 400 tom turkeys
were withdrawn at a bid of
16.0 and a lot of 450 turkey
hens did not sell at the offer
ed 27.2.

100,750 head m 36 lots and
pold 56,500 head in 20 lots.
