Prices Off Fractionally
Broiler prices slipped frac
tionally during the week at
the Lancaster Poultry Center,
but still remained over 17
cents.
At the November 1 auction,
a total of 79,550 head of
broilers in 19 lots brought
prices ranging from 16 7 to
18.1 for a sale average of
17.23. The salt average for the
corresponding sale a year ago
was 12 38.
The high lot, 1,600 White
Vantress Crosses at 9 weeks
2 days, was consigned by Ro
bert Noll and bought by Mar
tin Brendle. Only one lot of
broilers ■were not sold. These, a
lot of 4,000 at 8 weeks, 3
days,' were bid to 17.2. The
only other lot not sold was 950
Leghorn Fowl which weie bid
to 8.7.
The sale also moved seven
lots of 7,940 pullets at prices
of 24.25 to 26; three lots of
3,150 leghorn fowl brought
7.4 to 88, and two lots of
1,200 heavy fowl brought 16.2
to 16.3.
Pour lots of roasters cross
ed the block at 23-23.8 and
175 capons sold for 30 cents
A lot of 120 males were 8 8.
