K. Goddard today directed a
special appeal to Pennsylvan
ia’s hunters to do their shaie
m pi eventing foiest fires dur
ing hunting season.
“Fall hunting season corre
sponds with one of the two
woist flie seasons ot the year,”
Goddard explained, “and un
fortunately, most ot the fires
this time of the year are
caused by hunters.”
Goddaid said that the 1962
spring flie season was one of
the woist in many yeais be
cause of an unbelievable com
bination of sustained high
winds and low humidity in
most sections of the Common
wealth.
“It is unlikely that such
seveie conditions will he re
peated this fall,” he stated,
“but the weather factor is
completely unpredictable.”
“We can avoid serious foiest
fires,” he warned, “if every
Pennsylvanian makes up his
mind to exercise extreme cau
tion when in the woods and
forests,”
Goddaid said that he hoped
that every man, woman, and
