son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Carl Johnson, Sr , Quarryville
R 2.
Topping a field of 29 con
testants between the ages of
10 and 14 years was Miss
Kaye Ream, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jay Ream, Talmage
Fifty-one girls representing
local clubs from all parts of
the county were in conten
tion for the crown, symbolic
of the “Health” portion of the
4-H emblem The othe" tluee

crowned Thursday night by

Conestoga Valley Junior High

Judging the senior contest
were Dr E Z. Martin, presi
dent of the Lancaster County
Chiropractic Association; Miss
Ann HoloKa, special features
editor of the Lancaster News
papers, and Miss Ann Herr, of
WGAL television. The junior
division was judged by George
G McGinness, Assistant profes
sor of Physical Education at
Franklin and Marshall College,
and . Miss Joan Kline, WGAL
television Master of ceremon
ies was Robert Malick, also
of the television station.
The contest was spoimoied
by the Lancaster County 4-H
council.
Drumore 4-H
Holds Tour
A pioject tour of the mem
bers’ farms was the 'main item
of business at a lecent meet
ing of the Drumoie 4-H club
Visits were made to the pro
jects of Robert Grott, Peach
Bottom; Lewis Kreider, John
Doubts, Gerald Kreider, and
Jean and Everett Kreider, all
of Quarryville Rl.
After inspecting pigs, corn
and capon projects, the mem
bers returned to the Chestnut
Level Church house for a busi
ness meeting. Jay Leaman and
Robert Henry presented the
Forestry demonstration which
they will enter in district
competition next week at Al
lentown.
The- Lincoln Community
club has been invited to meet
with the Drumore club at the
Holtwood Picnic grounds on
August 21
