golden brown they are done

in the deep south to quiet
whining hound dogs as fisher
men and hunters cooked a
round camp fires at night. The
men tossed' cakes to the dogs,
calling “Hush, Puppy!” Hence
the name.

1 cup mashed bananas
Vz cup crushed nuts
Sift the flour, salt, soda and
cream of tartar together. Beat
shortening until creamy and
then add sugar gradually Add
eggs and beat well Add dry
ingiedients alternately with
crushed bananas Pour batter
into a greased loaf pan Bx4x3”.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1'
hour Serve in squares or
slices Slices may be buttered
to make tiny sandwiches.
