Delmarva - Georgia
Prices Mostly
V 2 Cent Lower
Delmarva reported prices
of 11.40 to 12.40 on 920,600
head at farms during the 25-
hour period ending 10:30 on
Friday morning These prices
approximately 14 cent lower
with the offerings moderate
for the fair demand.
Dealers were using a “wait
and see” attitude in placing
next week’s orders .Estimat
ed slaughter for the weekend
was 800,000 head compared
to the 692,000 head last
week end.
The Delmarva broiler-feed
ratio for the week ending on
October 27 was up one point
at 3.0. The increase in the
ratio reflected a slight rise in
price of broilers from the
prev ous week coupled with
a slight drop in the cost of
mash.
Broilers averaged 13.50 per
pound during the week and
mash cost the grower $BB 77
per ton During the previous
week broi’ers averaged 13.07
and mash was $B9 17 per ton.
For the comparable week
a year ago, the ratio was 3 8
when broilers brought 16 54
and mash cost $B7 12 per ton.
